Alia Thomas

Hello! I’m Alia, a photographer, and mental health blogger on the side, from the South Coast of England. A true empath – that’s my super power don’t you know. I’m a little obsessed with the ocean – the beach is my happy place and where I go to clear my head. It’s where I go for a bit of calm. I’m a big music lover – you’ll often find me at a gig – and in my spare time I love getting into nature and going on walks, borrowing peoples dogs (for said walks), and spending time with friends and family. I’ve got 2 house rabbits. They warm my heart to no end… except when they’re chewing up the furniture.

I found out about CBD about 3 years ago, and decided to try it out to help with anxiety. I’ve tried various oils, teas, and patches (mostly from The Tonic!) And have been pleasantly surprised as to how well it can help. My favourite? Probably in tea form, because I’m an avid tea drinker anyway! I’m also a newly found fan of the CBD patches as they’re very cool being so easily hidden, unnoticeable and highly effective.

As mentioned above, I’m a mental health blogger outside of my photography work. During the first lockdown in 2020, whilst I was undergoing a course of CBT, I decided to start my blog as a form of therapy for myself and a way of helping others who experience similar things to me. I have experienced anxiety for as long as I can remember, but nothing quite like what I felt at the end of 2019/beginning of 2020. Alongside this I talk about greif, as I went through the awful experience of losing my Mum to cancer when I was a teenager. She was only 49, and at a prevalent time in my life, with hormones flying everywhere, it was hard for me to properly process it and in fact, I’ve only recently made some more serious progress with processing my grief. So I not only talk about anxiety on the blog, but grief also, and again this has been a very healing process for me in the last two years. With the help of various ‘tools’ including CBD, I am pleased to say that I have got to a much better place with managing the anxiety and have been able to ‘let go’ of certain things that held me stuck in a bad place with my grief too. Of course it’s not all plain sailing. There are still bad times, but I can also enjoy and appreciate the good times a lot more now.

All of this has helped me see the the little wonders in the world, that I love so dearly. There’s not a lot that gives me more of a real sense of calm and serenity than when I’m immersed in the wonders of the nature. From as simple as sitting in my garden, watching and listening to the birds flitting about, to hearing the soothing sounds of the waves lapping against the shore. You can’t beat it.

Gabriella Tavini & Sped Spedding

We’re a hybrid creative couple from the North West.

Sped’s been playing guitar for 25+ years. He’s got his own YouTube channel with 50,000+ subs making awesome guitar related content that’s influenced by bands such as Led Zeppelin, Guns N’ Roses, and Fleetwood Mac.

Gabs is a performer, but writes for brands too. She also writes poems, screenplays and teaches lessons about plays and novels on her YouTube channel. So much of her work is inspired by female stories, psychedelics, witchcraft and environmentalism, all of which finds its way into her Instagram feed one way or another.

We starting our dating adventure over ten years ago and since then have road tripped across Bali and America. More recently, we took a leap of faith and moved to London, where Gabs spent several years working as a Copywriter at Ogilvy and Sped worked at the BBC. Since, moving back to the North during the pandemic,  Gabs is currently writing for McCann and Sped is a full-time YouTuber and guitar teacher.

The Tonic has become a staple in our lives. From drinking the serenity inducing CBD tea blends to using the handy CBD patches, it’s beautiful to have these magical plant-based tools within reach to help calm the body and mind and make us a little more resilient during those hectic work weeks. However, just a few drops of the 8% Classic CBD oil goes a long way to helping us find peace of mind.

Lucy Gittens

I’m Lucy, I’m a physiotherapist based in North Yorkshire. My main love is Mountain biking and spend 90% of my time in forests! I love all things outdoor and adventure, but also a yogi and Pilates instructor.

I got into mountain biking whilst at uni studying physio, and as you can imagine learning about injuries and rehab certainly has helped me out!

After sustaining a nasty rotator cuff tear and struggling with pain, I was looking for alternative treatments to compliment my physio rehab. This is when a friend introduced me to CBD, after a bit of research I discovered The Tonic Tribe and tried the arnica and CBD oil.

This significantly reduced my inflammation and pain in my shoulders and allowed me to rehab fully, super chills me out too! I loved the The Tonic ethos and being Yorkshire based made it even more appealing, Kate has been awesome in recommending me products to help and just really love the friendliness about the company.

Rosie Steeley

Social Entrepreneur and Creative – I add value to peoples lives for a living.

I am mum to Sally-Jane and a Dachshund- who we named after Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones!

I am a vintage collector- nostalgic for things my parents and grandparents had.

I take The Tonic Tribe Cbd oil because I’ve lived with anxiety for many years and it helps with my daily functioning and stability. I take the 3% cbd in the mornings – usually two sprays under my tongue and again before I go to sleep. It takes the edge off my anxiety. Calms me right down in a way which I can feel myself again. On really bad days I’ll take the tonic tribe 8% cbd water soluble once in the morning in a glass of water.

The importance of Self acceptance / recognition, personal development and wellbeing was something which hit me when I hit forty.

My likes include 70’s TV, vintage clothes and music my parents listened to! Jack Daniels whiskey and walking Ronnie out in the fields. (Not at the same time!)

Cassandra Mead

I’m Cass, 45 years old, I’m an animal lover, especially cats and currently have a 15 year old cat called Merlin. I’m a bit of an introvert so I like my space! I read a lot, and love learning about mental health and psychology. I love listening to music and love all different genre’s. I’m aunt to two gorgeous nieces who make me laugh, a lot! I love having my nails done, it’s my treat to myself, and I express my moods through what designs I have on my nails! Look out for the red ones, I mean business when they come out!!

My most embarrassing moment was hard to choose because I’m quite good at embarrassing myself! I’ll go with a recent one when I was at the supermarket and thought I had put a black mask in my bag only to find when I got there and took it out of my bag that it was actually a pair of black knickers! Mortified!

My greatest achievement is getting my psychology degree in 2019, I did it through the open university whilst working full-time and coping with getting my fibromyalgia diagnosis. I got a 2:1 and I’m so proud of myself.

My ethics are around inclusion, fairness and ensuring we leave the world a better place. Having an invisible disability has really opened my eyes to how many barriers there can be in life and so raising awareness is important to me.

Top 2 dislikes are dishonesty and greed, Top 2 likes are kindness and honesty

I take CBD to help me with the symptoms of fibromyalgia, there are many that come with fibromyalgia, but the predominant ones are pain and fatigue.  It helps me with sleep, pain and anxiety. It’s changed things for me so much so I’m a huge advocate for its benefits and am always recommending it to friends, family and colleagues!

Roisin Pelan

I’m Roisin 40-year-old mum of 2, fiancé of 1. Small business owner and metastatic cancer thriver. I’ve used CBD oil for quite a long time and it helps with so many cancer side effects – the menopausal symptoms especially! I love how it just lifts the heaviness of my aches and pains and I adore how dedicated The Tonic Tribe are to making sure I use it to its full potential (in tea, in the bath, in balms etc)

Fun Facts: I like to write children’s stories and self-published my first one in 2019; ‘Shiny Happy Horace.’ There’s more in the pipeline!

I absolutely love Oasis and would do anything for them to get back together.

My dream is to own a camper van and tour the world.

My greatest achievements: it goes without saying that my children are my whole heart and soul but when I was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer, we were told we could no longer adopt a child…..long story short, we got him! It’s something I pushed and pushed for and to be honest, deep down at times, I didn’t think it would ever happen – but IT DID and I love telling my story to people who feel like all hope is gone!

My Top three Likes

Modesty – I love to find out people’s talents, especially when they’re not showing off about them. ‘Have more than you show, speak less than you know’ is one of my favourite quotes!

Kindness – People who have something bad to say about anything and everything just aren’t my kind of people. ‘It takes strength to be gentle and kind’

Little Things – Sunsets, sunrise, the smell of freshly cut grass or bread baking in the oven. The sound of kids on the playground and the feel of the wind in my hair. The sun kissing my face and the sand in my toes. Ahhhh I love being alive.

I believe people regardless of race, gender, sexuality, social class and religion are all still people and should be treated with compassion and kindness.

Tom Perrott

My name is Tom Perrott aka ‘Wombat’ I live in Wiltshire near Stonehenge with my wife Rosi. Any chance I get is spent pedaling my fat bike around Salisbury Plain and I also use an exercise bike a lot too, and if you see a pack of hairy beasts on the plain then that is probably us out for a walk with the pack.

Why do I use CBD, why do I use The Tonics CBD? Well I have suffered with chronic pain since my late teens due to a rubbish back amongst a few other dysfunctional bits, but this over the years has been very difficult mentally to cope with as well as a demanding job. The use of CBD helps me to just keep a check on my mental balance, I don’t over react when I bump head for example, whereas beforehand I would be good at reacting badly to any new pain.

What products do I use? The back bone is the 8% water soluble, then I use the patches and the teas for additional support. We both also use the massage oil which is very indulgent. Now Rosi is also trying the products to help manage the symptoms associated with Hyper Mobility Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS).

The Tonics CBD consistent quality has been an absolute winner for me. I’ve tried a few brands over the years and never had the same effects constantly until The Tonic.
